Basically what I was expecting

Unfortunately the book was sealed. It would have been nice to have flicked through it! So, just so that you know what to expect: Each of the 'random encounters' in this book are 3 to 4 paragraphs of text explaining a scenario on which to base your encounters. It does not include any detailed monster information or stat blocks, only the type and size. Most of the scenarios are not (or at least not wholely) combat encounters. They are sorted by environment and there are encounter tables for each environment to randomly select them. There are no encounter maps and relatively few illustrations.

These are not fully fleshed out encounters, so if that's what you're expecting, I'd look at other products. However, as a bit of inspiration for a DM who has a tendency for all their encounters just to be bash the monster to the death, this book will give you a bit of inspiration for encounters that add a little colour to your adventures. You never know, some of them might inspire an idea for a whole new adventure.

A nice tool

18 character cards, each with their personality, quirk, flaw, goal, secrets and character art. I’ve used them for inspiration when writing NPCs ahead of time and for on-the-spot NPC creation when the players cared more about the shop keep than I was expecting.
