War! Commanded by the sinister Count Dooku, the Separatist Alliance has drawn numerous worlds into open insurrection against the Galactic Republic, spreading chaos and tyranny in the name of greed. With its powerful warships and vast reserves of droid forces, the Separatist fleet seems an insurmountable threat to peace and freedom in the galaxy.

This Fleet Starter provides the building blocks for your own Separatist fleet, starting with a Munificent-class Frigate miniature and two Hardcell-class Transport miniatures. These ships are supplemented by four squadrons of Vulture-class Droid Fighters ready to swarm their enemies. In addition to these miniatures, six ship cards give you the power to choose the exact models that make up your fleet and 20 upgrade cards invite you to fine-tune each ship with iconic officers, powerful weapons, and more.

No matter how you decide to outfit your fleet, the Separatist Alliance Fleet Starter is an excellent place to begin building your Star Wars: Armada collection. You’ll find all the components necessary to begin playing within this set, including nine attack dice, 10 command dials, eight speed dials, 12 objective cards, six obstacle tokens, a range ruler, and a maneuver tool. Assemble your fleet and destroy the enemy!

The seeds of Separatism

The Separatist Alliance fleet starter pack does exactly what the name suggests - it contains all the elements you need to start playing with the Separatist, one of the two new factions for Star Wars: Armada.

Note that it is a true starter pack, in that it includes the general game components - a rulebook, dice, tokens, obstacles and so on that you need to start playing the game, i.e. you do NOT need to buy the Armada core set! However, this also isn't a full Separatist fleet, and you will still need to add a number of components before you can play a full-sized game.

As well as the generic game components you also get three ships: a medium-sized Munificent-class frigate, and two Hardcell-class transports. Both are solid ships types, with good manoeuvrability and long-ranged guns, and will form the core of whatever fleet you end up building; you may recognise them from Revenge of the Sith and / or the Clone wars cartoon series. In addition you get four fighters to give your ships some air cover, plus various upgrades to add to the ships, including two admirals for your fleet. One admiral, Kraken, improves your ships' attack dice as long as another friendly vessel is near the target, and will be handy in most fleets. The other admiral, Count Dooku, is trickier, allowing you to 'raid' enemy ships and prevent them from carrying out commands.

A standard game of Armada is played at 400 points, but these components will only get you to 250 or so max, as well as presenting a limited choice of squadrons and upgrades for you to build a fleet from. Therefore in order to give yourself more flexibility you will almost certainly want to pick up three more packs: 1) a Separatist fighter pack, 2) an upgrade card pack, and 3) another separatist ship of some kind (currently that's an Invisible Hand or a Recusant-class destroyer). The list of ship options is certain to increase as more releases take place!

Honga

Honga is for all levels of experience.

I discovered Honga in a search for a seemingly elusive worker placement game that would be ideal for an introductory session with non-gamers, or at best the very inexperienced. It has been a success, with a novel mechanism that reminds me of collecting taxes in the complex Tzolk'in The Mayan Calendar - but in a more approachable format that is entertaining despite the vexations of knowing which actions to choose. I am so glad Athena Games had this beautiful production in stock; it did not seem to be available at a decent price elsewhere. It also got an excellent reception from very experienced devotees.

Love the Digimon TCG & Athena!

I love everything about the Digimon TCG, and will continue to purchase from Athena Games. I always get my preorders on time and safely. No complaints!

Smashin’

Citadel finally nails the boar minis. And the savage orc riders have great flexibility for weaponry. Perfect for building up that Waaagh! energy.

Dice scroll

Very helpful for the storing and rolling of dice generally looks good and I would probably by another. Can store at least two dice sets or a stationary set so very good in general

Master of Mankind
