COVID Update: Reopening Plans
As long as Government guidance remains the same, Athena Games will be reopening on Tuesday 16th June in a limited manner to begin with. We still encourage all customers to make use of Click & Collect and delivery options where possible. Below you will find all the information that you need to know about how this will all work.
Athena Games will be open just for shopping

Our opening hours to begin with will be Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 5pm, although the store will be closed from 2pm – 3pm each day to allow staff to perform thorough clean and have time to have their lunch.
We cannot yet return to the days of being able to spend time browsing the shelves and looking at dozens of games. As such, we are restricting the areas of the store that customers can access. To remain COVID-19 secure, we would have to quarantine high touch stock and that isn’t practical for our business.
We will be operating a sales and assistance counter. At this counter, staff will happily make recommendations, bring over stock to show customers and help you to find the right products for you. This is also where you will pay for or collect items. At least for this week, we will only be accepting card payments and would prefer if you pay by contactless if possible.
Whilst we are keen to find out what you have all been up to in lockdown and hear about your various plans, please remember that we are trying to limit the amount of time people spend in the store and we are running with a reduced staff to normal so may have to cut conversations short so people don't have to wait.

We will be implementing a number of safety measures to help protect staff and customers as well as making sure our business is COVID-19 secure, these include:
- Increased cleaning schedule with staff cleaning and wiping down contact surfaces regularly.
- Hand sanitiser dispensers for staff and customers at the entrance and around the store.
- Social distancing for all customers and staff, with visual aids to assist you in maintaining distance.
- Limit on the number of people in the store at any one time.
This is not a definitive list and will be updated as guidelines and best practice are established.
For local customers, we are still operating our Click & Collect service on our website. This allows you to limit the amount of time in the store and you will receive an email or text notification when your order is ready for collection.
Athena Games is still closed for gaming
We are not currently reopening our gaming space. The gaming space part of our venue falls much more closely to cafes/restaurants or pubs and as such will be looking at the guidance on when they can reopen, the current date for this to be reviewed is 4th July.
Next Update?
Whilst we are looking forward to getting back a bit of “normal”, at every stage our first priority is the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers and as such we will take our time to do things properly and carefully.
Please keep an eye on here and our Facebook page for further updates as the situation could potentially change very quickly.
